burdens

been reading a fascinating book “Parenting from the inside out”, about the mind and how consciousness develops, and how socal bonds, and parental bonds are crucial to proper development in children. After quiet reflection…

sometimes, there are no words.
Just thoughts that cannot drift
between the reality of touch and taste
and the void within my soul

sometimes, it was the best that they could do
yet we lace it up like ill fitting boots
and limp away to burdened lives
imagining we are the less for it

this time, I lay my burden down
that you who helped me bear it
braced me while I never understood the weight
can at last dance freely

You have just told my story in each and every stanza. Very poignant, and the ill fitting shoes is a wonderful simile!

I so respect, honor, and appreciate your words – continued blessings on your healing – so appreciate your transparencies as well

Read it twice! That is how beautiful this poem is. Like this part, “sometimes, it was the best that they could do yet we lace it up like ill fitting boots”, wow! Well done!

thanks, verse one, was me, verse two was my parents and my siblings, and verse three was me and my wife. I am glad you liked it, but I do believe almost every parent does the best he/she can. — some times life and or historic events make it more difficult.

  4. very nice….this time, I lay my bruden down that you who helped me bear it braced me while I never understood the weight…can dance freely….like this stanza…
