bar hopping in philly — ramen bars that is

Philadelphia is alive and vibrant. Not the cleanest place, but University City sparkles as only a place with six colleges near by can be. Down to visit our favorite artist now at PAFA ( Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts ), the sky was clear, the weather warm and the streets are full of pretty girls. Of course it always helps when I am sitting with two of the prettiest.

History surrounds us and I can testify that it builds up an appetite. So first stop the Ramen Bar.

I never had ramen like this before!

Delicious noodles in a pork broth with a soft boiled marinated egg, absolutely delectable. It has veggies, 3 pieces of kelp and roast pork slices. Mix in the hot sauce and it is a treat for the senses. Really puts a broken hand to task working the chopsticks, but they have a ladle and at the end isn’t a bowl just a big cup ?

Next morning we are by the constitution house, that little place Thomas Jefferson rented to escape the city’s heat and complete the constitution.

Thomas Jefferson did his greatest work here

Then off to Reading Market where we select lunch, and finish in the shadow of skyscrapers.

Last bite of a sandwich from the Reading Market — where there are a thousand choices for lunch… each looks better than the last. This was a prosciutto and caramelized onions in a baguette.

A leisurely lunch outside in the shadow of the city.
