christmas shoppingPosted: December 22, 2012
“Can you keep a secret?” Two little heads nodding up and down in unison. “You won’t tell Mom?” Funny how little ones can nod from their head to their toes. “OK, Mom will wait here in the mall while we go and pick out two presents.” And hand in hand in hand we walked, hopped and skipped into the department store.
Back in those days, earrings fit the budget so we headed right to the jewelry counter. Excited, two intense shoppers examined pair after pair until satisfied we left the store with two tiny boxes safely bagged.
“Remember, keep the secret.”
“We will Dad,” and off we went to find Mom.
She was waiting where we left her, and approaching the girls left me in a hopping, dancing, skipping run shouting at the top of their lungs, “Mom, we bought you earrings!”
Merry Christmas, my love…
