city tap house in university city ( philly )

One fine spring day we headed up to the City Tap House in Philly. It was rumored that they had the best burger possible, a burger with pork belly on top. Alas, at brunch it wasn’t on the menu. Our waitress told us she could give us the sandwich, just different. We smiled and thank you, but no.

For beer I had a wheaty Victory Moonglow 8.7% alcohol by Weizenbock, PA. It was soft on the palate, citrusy and light. With the pork belly ( think bacon with more meat and tender ) out of the picture Jan and I split the avocado veggie hoagie. It was wonderful, and we were eating on the balcony in that first warm spring sunshine. Eating outside always seems to make the flavors burst.

Now for the appetites of youth, my daughter chose a bacon, over easy egg burger on an English Muffin.

I have it from a very trusted source that the bacon and egg burger is quite satisfying.

Heading to see family in New Jersey this August. Have been to Philly many times, but never here. Thanks for the great post. I’ll have to check it out this summer. For the delicious beer if for nothing else.
