My favorite oldest daughter, not to be confused with my favorite youngest daughter, graduated yesterday.

I took a day and drove her to the university. We stopped for a breakfast coze, at Ryskes in Kalamazoo Michigan, shared a cinnamon roll… good food is always best shared.

I had a Quiche Loraine with a bran muffin, while she had lemon pancakes with seasonal fresh strawberries. How you know someone loves you? Maybe it’s when they share a piece of bacon- perfectly cooked bacon with you.

We drove to the ceremony at Michigan State University ( about 90 minutes ) with Pink Martini softly singing of love in the background.

Our family met ( Jan coming from Ohio, me from Chicago ) and watched the advanced degrees awarded with due pomp and circumstance. Afterwards, my favorite oldest daughter rode back with her boyfriend. How beautifully they spread their wings and fly.

  1. Congratulations to your family! I could almost cry at the thought of my almost 13 yr old daughter “flying off” one day – it’s good that they take longer than birds to leave the nest…

    Blessings ~ Wendy
