sleep

Do you sleep enough? When I trained hard in the martial arts, the Chinese saying “Every hour before midnight counts twice” was often quoted and little heeded.

Having fought cancer, I think that sleep and thought, sleep and wellness, sleep and strength and sleep and healing are companions.

In our family we often misquote Tolkien from “The Lord of the Rings” concerning the hobbits, hole dwellers, and their sojourn in a tree under the protection of the elves.

May you sleep the sleep of the content, if logs can be content.

Funny that you just posted this. I was just thinking about college and your rule that you get twice as much sleep for any hours before midnight. To this day, I’m convinced, it’s true!

  3. A good night’s sleep can cure a lot. Many times a good sleep has acted life a white board for me, erasing any anxieties i’ve had the night before.

Do I sleep enough? Hmmm–maybe. I don’t really have time to sleep over-much–must write, communicate with my blog pals. Bill, I am so so so happy that you are cancer free–and will continue to keep you in my prayers. PS–I neglected to send you and your lovely wife an invite to my birthday party, but as it’s sort of ongoing–my parties last for days–you can still come over and get some cake and Spumoni, chat with the hangers on: spumonicaddo.wordpress.com–“Happy Birthday to Me!” Fond affection, Caddo (the old Bennetta, in case you’re confused like most folks)

  5. I agree with you. My job can cheat me of sleep, but I’m onto it!! _Resa xo

    Couldnt agree more.

  7. I have to get enough sleep, or I don’t cope well not to mention I would have seizures..

  8. About 4 years ago I made it a priority to get 8 hours sleep every night. That means if I knew I’d be getting up at 5 am I went to bed at 9pm. Was hard at first but I kept at it. Since then, I lost the weight I was trying to lose, even though I was previously eating right and exercising, I’m less irritable and scary and I just feel healthier.

So Bill, I challenge you to get enough sleep. πŸ™‚
