saddle, no horse

Here in Chicagoland the saddle is on the stand. Sometimes I like to run my hand across the leather and savor the scent of the great out west.
I don’t ride so much anymore, but there is something special about the feel of leather.
What a beautiful saddle. I would love to try that one out. It looks lovely and comfortable and so functional with those pockets at the back. I just the the smell a riding tack and horses. That would also take pride of place in my home! Jen
Thanks — it has a back cinch which allows you to rope off it, and then dally wrap your rope around the horn with out the saddle coming off.
I was never a skilled rider, but I enjoyed using it. The tapaderos were often used in mexico to protect from the brush and thorns when working cattle.
Thanks — I was glad to be able to show it to someone who enjoys horses.
Very beautiful saddle…I imagine it smells of that manly leathery smell. 🙂 Perhaps one day you’ll have a horse to put under it…
( laughing ) that saddle has a lot of horse under it, unfortunately as this post shows… the saddle doesn’t make the rider…
That looks like one nice saddle!
I think of it as functional art
Cool!
I always like art that you can touch,,, hold in your hands. I also love glass, especially cut glass.
Do you feel the same about fabric ?
Certain fabrics are inspiring, especially old ones. As with most things, they don’t make them like they used to. I have a penchant for velvet.
do you create outfits out of fabric you like?
Yes I do, although mostly for projects I’m working on. I had an incredible piece of French Lace that is now a frock style coat. I designed it for my most recent project. However, I won’t be able to wear the coat until after the MOW comes out.
MOW ?
Movie Of the Week
very cool! I’d love to see a fashion show, even if it uses coat hangers as models
Haha! I do that at work sometimes, like in a large group scene… so I can see the characters/ colors/ textures all together.
a visual feast
You must miss being out there – I sure would!
yes, although it would be snowing soon in the mountains. In a way the saddle is art. Functional art that it feels good to handle
The special feel is the flavor of the memoriesA 🙂
With love,
-Naima.
yes, for us older, while your job is to fill your life with fine ones.
I will never disappoint you with that job 🙂
-Naima.
yes, I think you are up to the task. In the perfect life, we love and grow and learn all the days of it.
Of course this requires that we go against the old folk saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”
I think you will be entertained by my journey as I will be learning by landing into adventures and then sharing it with you 🙂
-Naima.
I will bask in the glory of your accomplishments ( smile ) but don’t feel any obligation for I expect you to be very busy
Yeah, I will be busy – I am sure! But Weekends can do much good to me instead US 😉
-Naima.
don’t forget to have fun!
work really hard, and schedule time to smile
I will never let you down and smile will always be UP 🙂
-Naima.
it’s ok to cry and be sad, just not to dwell on them.
I agree 🙂
-Naima.
do you exercise ?
Yes, daily ( at least I try to )
-Naima.
good for you!
It is but I am too lazy at times …
-Naima.
oh well, I guess we can allow one fault
It is both a nice smell and a nice look.
Except, for my family, and we had four kids, it also became a catch-all for jackets, dirty clothes, book bags – and I wish I had taken a picture then. Randy
agreed, instant catchall
I like that they are functional, and beautiful — a working form of art
