saddle, no horse

Back in Wyoming the horses should be down from the mountain and running loose on the big ranch wild and free until spring when it’s time to return to work. Here in Chicagoland the saddle is on the stand. Sometimes I like to run my hand across the leather and savor the scent of the great out west.

Porter Saddle with Tapaderos

I don’t ride so much anymore, but there is something special about the feel of leather.

What a beautiful saddle. I would love to try that one out. It looks lovely and comfortable and so functional with those pockets at the back. I just the the smell a riding tack and horses. That would also take pride of place in my home! Jen

Thanks — it has a back cinch which allows you to rope off it, and then dally wrap your rope around the horn with out the saddle coming off.

I was never a skilled rider, but I enjoyed using it. The tapaderos were often used in mexico to protect from the brush and thorns when working cattle.

Thanks — I was glad to be able to show it to someone who enjoys horses.

Very beautiful saddle…I imagine it smells of that manly leathery smell. 🙂 Perhaps one day you’ll have a horse to put under it…

  3. That looks like one nice saddle!

  6. It is both a nice smell and a nice look.
Except, for my family, and we had four kids, it also became a catch-all for jackets, dirty clothes, book bags – and I wish I had taken a picture then. Randy
